hint.fm - data visualization in another aspect

hint.fm research group is led by Fernanda Viégas and Martin Wattenberg, who are working for years now with visual explorations of culturally significant data; datavisualization, as it is called today.

I'm constantly seeking new ways to represent information to create connection, insight, narrative and beauty.

Flickr flow is dealing with data mined trough flickr images. The art piece shows the mostly used colors during different seasons.

Their newest project Wind map is a real time visualization of wind over the US. The approach what I really liked here is, that the zoomable interface and the LOD makes it a really detailed information. Check out the Live Visualization.

Thinking Machine shows all the possible games during a chess game, what computer checks before its turn. They also built a webapp for the  project, You can try out the game here.

I really love when people use their own tool and make invisible data visible on their unique way.
